seeing in color again
colorful tapers plus new & old prints in the shop to support an emergent body of work
Hi dear ones near and far and strangers too,
This is a quick note to say that there are three full spectrum tapers, four fresh colorful prints, and a deep discount on all older black and white prints in the shop now! In anticipation, celebration, and tangible support for the creation of my upcoming show…
The prints are all in color, two of them are newish paintings that will be in the show, and two are cut and embossed copper pieces from the archives. They’re all printed on a heavy weight linen paper. I love how they turned out, and am excited to be able to share them. I’ve been wanting to make prints of the copper pieces for a while!
In addition to the new run of prints, all of the older riso prints and copies of Orbiting Whorl, which we first published in 2022, are discounted quite a bit. It’s been really meaningful to be deep in the experience of creating a new body of work for the upcoming show, and to feel how it brings me back to the time of creating the work that became Orbiting Whorl, my last show, a collection of funerary objects made after my mom’s death. I can really feel the poignancy of letting a black and white body of work that was explicitly reckoning with death feed a new, more colorful body of work that is explicitly engaged with aliveness.
Lastly, the three new tapers in the shop are made with small copper charms and pigmented wax, and are ready to ship. These are such a joy to make, and feel like a life-giving expression of summer: highly saturated, playful, spontaneous. I made a round of them last week and they flew out of the shop, so I made a few more to release in anticipation of the show! I will have a collection of them at Tama One for the opening, as well.
